Century Netbook Stand...

A friend sent me a link on this very creative gadget couple of days ago and I must admit I’m quite amazed by the concept of it. As the Jap call it, NETTOBUKKU SUTANDO, equipped with an optical drive as well as a dedicated slot for an external harddisk. It also has a cooling fan that can be adjusted. Looks typically like any notebook cooling pad but a far more sophisticated one. I certainly hope that there’s one that could fit a 12’ laptop and is available in Malaysia. Or maybe I can DIY one. Hee...

Family Carrier For Me???

Just got back from a weekend trip in Cameron Highland over the long weekend holiday and I must say it was a rather tiring one. Getting stuck in the jam for hours is really a total pain in the ass. I’d really think twice the next time anyone invites me for road trips during Public Holiday period.

This time we had a Toyota Altis ferrying 4 adults and a kid throughout the trip. Although it wasn’t at all cramped but it wasn’t very comfortable either. It got me thinking how nice if I could be in a MPV. Something that could fit 7-8 people comfortably without having everyone squeezing themselves until you could barely move your ass. I couldn't stop dreaming taking a nap on the body hugging seat of the spacious MPV while I could still have enough space to do a little stretching when I wake up. :P Maybe I could get one of these...

Nissan Serena C24

145hp 2L QR20DE engine, seems to be pretty sufficient. At least better than Proton Exora’s 1.4 tonne body weight but with only a 1.6L 125hp “generator”.

Very nicely done up Serena.

Fabulous tuned Nissan Serena

Another very nicely done up Serena

Oh well, I could dream all I can. I'm pretty happy with what I have for now. Guess it'd only be applicable maybe in the next 2-3 years time. Back to the trip, it was quite an interesting one, although bored at times. The weather was really cooling and I'm sure I enjoyed that a lot. I managed to also spend sometime with people that I hardly speak to, who would one day be my family and I think it was great that the trip had made us closer (at least a wee bit lah…hehe).

Work Out Hazard...

I’ve been working on my stamina for quite a while and as usual, whenever I’m at the gym I’d be spending most of my time on the treadmill.

Just couple of days ago I was very determined to do the 10km jog again, started off slowly but still on a jogging pace and throughout the initial 30 minutes everything went really well. I was very confident that I could complete it without slowing down to walking speed.

An Indian dude came next to me about 20 minutes after I started. Usually I wouldn’t bother about anyone while I was at the treadmill. Furthermore I’m so determined that I was only minding my own business making sure that I stay focus at all time.

And this is when things get really bad, suddenly I smell something really terrible. The dude was breathing heavily and his breath smells so bad that my pace was all messed up. I tried my very best to keep focus for about 10 minutes and finally I couldn’t take it anymore, had to end the whole session at about 4km++. It’s rather disappointed that I was distracted but man, the smell can really kill. What a bad day. *sigh*

New Toy In da House!!!

It’s was quite a while since I was contemplating to get a netbook and the urge kinda went away when I was told that I will be been given a laptop at work. I’m currently prepping up my work laptop so I’ll be leaving the desktop world for good very soon. What was even better is that I managed to get hold of a Dell Latitude D420 and I’m rather happy because all this while my plan was to get a light weight laptop for personal use. I’ve never used a 12’ lappy so I was quite surprised and satisfied with its 3.1 lbs @ approximately 1.4kg weight. Although it isn’t a really very light one compare to those in the current trend.

I played a little trick on my mom and the previous owner and there you go. I’ve got a light weight laptop that I can use. My old faithful Toshiba will be fixed and pass to my mom since she’s more of a beginner. And she definitely needs a much bigger screen. “Ma, let me take care of the small one ok?” hahaha…ok, I know it isn’t a very new model, infact it was a 2006 model and bought in 2007, so it’s about 2 years old. I’m thinking maybe I could run it on XP and dual boot it with Ubuntu. Upgrade the RAM to 2GB and I guess it’s good to go as a casual lappy. The only draw back is that it runs on a smaller size 1.8’ hardisk rather than the regular 2.5’ notebook harddisk and I still have to get an external DVD combo drive to go with it. Although I’d really want to install it with Vista but I’m just too skeptical. I shall wait till Windows 7 is officially launched.

Old habit dies hard, with money saved for not getting a netbook I’m thinking of MacBook now. DAMN!!!

Spec of the Dell Latitude D420

DIY Skin Tag Removal???

Skin tag, also known as acrochordon, some little flesh that grow commonly on one’s neck, armpit or groin area. For further details please visit HERE. I prefer not to have any of these pictures posted here though.

I’m sure many people suffer such growth but have you ever thought of removing it? It is rather unnecessary to most men as they don’t exactly shave their armpits (assuming we’re talking about armpit skin tags). Anyway I had a couple and I usually wouldn’t be bothered about it until recently I noticed one that was rather obvious when I took off my shirt.

I’ve been told that you can have them removed in a clinic or by a dermatologist but the services do not come free. The cheaper alternative is to actually have them removed by yourself at your very own home.

Did a little study over the Internet and I decided to actually use the method of tying the base of the skin tag with a dental floss and let it dry up by itself, and eventually it’ll fall off without you even noticing it.

My experience was that I had it tied for 2 days and I could feel a little irritation because there is still a small little wound on the base part where the floss is, I know that you could just clip it off with a scissor or something but I was such a “pussy”... :P On the third day I couldn’t take it anymore, it dried up a little bit but was getting more and more irritating whenever I move my arm. Got too frustrated so I hold on to it real tight and give it a quick pull, surprisingly a little pinch pain and the whole thing just came off!

Put on a little aloe vera cream and I’m so relief now. I don't really recommend you to follow what I've done though as it has higher risk of getting an infection.

Windows Live Messenger 2009 – CRAP! – Part 2

Here’s an update on my WLM problem. As you know I’ve downgraded to WLM 8.0 and it was working fine. I was relieved, disconnected the Internet and took a break. Made a phone call and I was back on my laptop again.

Reconnected the Internet and @(&*^@*($^@*&$@*($@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The freaking problem came back!!!!!!!!

Tried the MSN troubleshooting tool = key ports failed...what the hell is a keyport?!?!

Clicked repair...but was given with useless links...

Anyway, this is what I’ve done so far,

Click Start, then Run, and enter the following:

regsvr32 softpub.dll

regsvr32 wintrust.dll

regsvr32 initpki.dll

Off my Windows firewall and antivirus (Kaspersky Anti Virus 7.0)

Checked system time and date

All the above won’t work! I finally reinstalled WLM 8.0 again and now I’m able to sign in. This wouldn’t be good if I have to keep reinstalling the WLM every time I reconnect my Internet connection so I had to think harder to solve this problem.

I’ve rechecked my Kaspersky AV, added C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\msnmsgr.exe to the trusted zone and unchecked "used proxy server" on Kaspersky settings. Redialed Internet and it seems to be working. Tested it again this morning and it was still OK. WLM in office is working too.

Conclusion?
I have no freaking idea, high chances that it could be our beloved Streamyx service (ISP) and I sure hope that I won’t need to go through this shit again.

Windows Live Messenger 2009 – CRAP! - Part 1

I was very happy with MSN 8.0 until one day it started prompting me to upgrade to the latest 2009 version. I was hesitating initially but I ended up clicking the “upgrade” button because it was really annoying.

Everything was working fine until 30 minutes ago; I couldn’t sign in to my MSN! From the MSN troubleshooting tool it says that a firewall or the proxy setting is incorrect. It gives an error code of 8100306. My cousin had the same error a week ago and it seems that there is nothing you could do to solve it. Off the Windows firewall or even stopping the antivirus. I just can’t find any solution! I’ve googled on it but nothing seems to work. I ended up downloading the older version of MSN and reinstalling it. Restarted the computer, VIOLA!!! I’m connected!

Blardy piece of shit…I know it doesn’t exactly solve the problem but two incidents in a row with the new 2009 version?! I think I’d just stay with the old one for now. So to you guys out there who are having similar problem, uninstall the damn thing and revert back to 8.0. I can't guarantee a confirm fix but I hope it helps.

Additional notes: to uninstall WLM 2009, go to your Add or Remove Programs and double click on “Windows Live Essentials”. Check “Messenger” and just follow the regular steps. (this applies only to Windows XP...not sure about Vista)

Old Memories...

I had other topics that I initially wanted to blog about thinking that I could fill up some of my quotas for March but I guess I was just too late. Hehe.

Anyway, April fool’s day is here!!! But there isn’t much to talk about. April fool’s day was more important when I was younger. HAHA...Today seems to be a day that brings me a lot of old memories. It is also the death day of Leslie Cheung. Can you believe that it’s been 6 years since his death? This thought actually reminded me of the one major incident that I remember the most. The September 11, 2001 attack in New York, I still remember clearly I was relaxing at home at the very same place that I am sitting right now, checking on my Province in the online game Utopia. An American mate from the same kingdom in Utopia sent me a link of a news website. I thought the attack was some prank joke initially but I was kinda shocked after I saw the news on TV.

The September 11 incident did not directly or indirectly affected anything around me but it was one of the incidents that I have a strong memory on. While you enjoy the memorable song from Leslie Cheung below, I bet some of you also remember the 2 girls who were quite popular in Asia back then. Check it out!

I feel old…very old…:(

My First Quarter Marathon…

Quarter Marathon, something that is a total stranger to me until I saw the BHPetrol Orange Run 2009 link posted up by a friend in his Facebook page.

Orange Run which is an annual event on the BHPetrol calendar will be held for the fourth time this year. The Run which is scheduled on 12 April 2009 (Sunday)

I’ve never heard of a quarter marathon though, only half marathon or a full marathon. Never knew it even exist...hahaha...I’ve had a thought last year that I might want to take part in a walk, or maybe a half marathon but I was too unfit to do so. I started going to the gym middle of last year so I thought since there’s an 11km run, maybe I could give it a trial run at the treadmill and see if I’m capable of doing so.

Off I go to the gym, started off with the speed at 5.5km/h (3% gradient), took on a 10 minutes each of jog and walk interval on my first hour. With jogging at 7km/h and walking at the speed ranges from 4.5 - 5.5km/h.

I reached the 7km mark not long after my first hour and continued with only walking speed as I was already running out of breath. Increased the gradient to 6% while I was walking and catching up my breath. Then I finished off the last 2km with 8km/h at 0% gradient. Completing the whole 11km run with the time of 1hr 57minutes. Approximately 4 times slower than the world marathon record. HAHA...During my second hour walk I could feel a little pain on my left ankle but surprisingly my left knee which has been aching once in a while had no problem through the whole 11km.

The result wasn’t at all great but I’m happy that at least I could complete the whole 11km walk/run. I was totally drained after the session. I guess I could plan for a next session and see if I can improve. I’m still thinking if I should join the Orang Run 2009 but I’m contemplating since it’ll be held in just 2 weeks time.

Nice Number Plate there...

Saw this Subaru Impreza WRX STI Version 8 the other day when I was on my way to work. Could be even better if the owner was willing to wait longer for a WRX 571 plate.

Earth Hour – Gimmick?

The Earth Hour event was quite a big hit lately. I wasn’t really following the news so I wasn’t exactly aware of such event until my dearest told me about it couple of weeks back. While browsing through The Star Online the other day I saw this so-called opinion posted up by this dude named Marcus from Petaling Jaya.

I’m not hardcore pro Earth Hour but I think it’s quite a good idea to educate the people about global warming. It is rather sad that he thinks that this event is just a publicity stunt. I personally find that the way he voice out his opinion is just so childish and immature. He doesn’t exactly see the purpose of such event. It is to create awareness! It’s a part of the effort to pass the message to every person in the world to be aware of the effect of global warming. Every bodies/organization could do their part to save the world! (Fuh…I feel like I’m one of those super heroes now…haha)

Anyway, I guess he can have all his opinion to himself. I hope he isn’t one of those guys who would just know how to “tell” their opinion in the newspaper trying to be glamour and not do anything about it. PEACE YO!!!

Mentally Handicapped Driver…

I can never refrain myself from not being curious every time I see a car parked at the handicapped parking lot. I would usually take a close look to see if there’s any sign that it’s being driven by a handicapped driver. The handicapped lot in the car park that I frequent is always occupied, and I’ve only seen once that it is being utilized by the “right” person. Most of the time it’d be occupied by those mentally handicapped assholes who thinks that their RMX parking fee has so much higher value compare to anyone of us and they deserves to have the closest parking lot to the lift. Such ignorant and unethical behavior. I'm happy that there are still people who share the same thoughts as me though. GO TO HELL SCUMBAGS!!! What a disgrace to humankind.

Tunabread.blogspot featured in Action City’s Facebook Page…

It’s the middle of the month and I’ve only made 1 blog post. Been really busy with my 1 month old PSP (it’s a used one but I’ve only gotten it like a month ago :P ). Of cause I’m also working hard when I should be working. Hehe.

Anyway, I’m happy that I’m gaining more readers in my blog. Thank you! Although it isn’t great, but at least it’s still better than no reader at all. Did a Google search and noticed that Action City has linked my Mr. Breadou blog post to it’s Facebook page. I’m flattered. Thank you too.

Looks like I need to get a better camera. Mr. Breadou looks so pale. Haha.

My 1st Time…………

Took a day off yesterday to attend a friend’s registration of marriage, it was my 1st time attending such occasion and I find it rather interesting. I was also able to pick up some information on the processes and it gave me a brief idea on what should I do if I were to get married in the future. Haha.

Later in the evening the guys suggested to go for a golfing session at the driving range. It was also my 1st time playing golf. Initially everything went pretty smooth, everyone was having fun. Half way through the session I made a freaking huge mistake. I’ve heard real stories of people died being hit by golf clubs and I was trying really hard not to kill anyone. During one of the swing I actually lost grip of the club and it just took off from my hands. I looked back immediately and saw it flying up and I think the club was thrown off approximately 20m away from me. The first thing that came into my mind was if there is anyone near where it landed. Then I saw a guy (who was also practicing at the driving range) looking towards my direction with his eye rolled really big because the club fell just around 5 steps off where he was standing! I felt more guilt rather than embarrassment. Quickly I ran towards him, apologized and picked up the club. Although I continued acting cool and my mates just laughed it off later on; I felt really bad, imagine if the club went straight to my mate’s direction and I would probably be the person who kill his friend on the day his friend got married. -_-“

2009 F1…

Despite being a motorhead myself, F1 isn't really my cup of tea. Once in a while I would watch some of those races whenever there’s a chance but sometimes the races can be just too boring because of the long hours and lack of actions. Worst still they're always on weekend when I have to give higher priority to my other "Interest" of my life. :P I would prefer watching automobile television series like Top Gear though. I came across with something pretty interesting from this short video in Youtube briefly introducing the new F1 rule in 2009.

Narrated by Sebastian Vettel, the youngest F1 race winner in 2008 from Germany. It's rather exciting when he says “Come back after 11 years, SLICKS. No grooves, better grip, and much more fun”. Many would agree with me that running on slicks would really stick a vehicle on the ground so much so that your car would probably topple over rather than skidding when you accidentally turn too hard…hehe...

KERS, transfering kinetic power to electrical power and gives the car a sudden boost up to 82 horse power with a press of a button. Very interesting as I think it’s quite a good use compare to NOS. If it’s allowed anyway. :P

So guys...check out the video to find out more of the changes in 2009 F1!

Privacy No More?

Regardless of whatever reason it may be. I have no respect for the person be it a man or a woman who takes and distribute nude photos of their former partners. It is even more disgraceful that some people actually do not mind having their nude photos/videos taken by their partner. What exactly is the purpose? I could not think of ANY reason at all for such action. If you are so in love with each other, you can make love to each other every minute and you can even walk around naked when the 2 of you are alone in the house. Or you think your partner fondling him/herself while looking at your nude picture is particularly “hot”? It seems that everyone gets so horny that they can't realize the risk that they’re taking. Your photos could be leaked out to the public. What if the camera/laptop is stolen? Lost? Somehow or rather I think people nowadays do not realize how powerful the Internet is even after all those shit that happened to many celebrities or politicians. There’s always a chance or a loop hole for your private information being distributed or being obtained. But...people just love to take advantage on LUCK.

At the end of the day, it is our own responsibility to ensure our privacy is being protected. One very fine example would be that you’re giving out a lot of personal information in those infamous social network websites such as Facebook or Friendster only wanting its advantages but not being able to understand the risk you are putting yourself into. There should always be a balance in it.

Mamak Style Customer Service…

It’s been awhile since I’ve been a regular lepak-mamak guy except the occasional mamak lunch near my office. My previous 2 visits were quite an experience which I’ve not encountered for quite sometimes.

First scene:
Me: Boss, telur stengah masak dua…milo kosong ice…
Mamak: OK!
Me: EEEHHH…nanti nanti nanti…tak mau telur stengah masak…roti telur boleh? Tambah bawang ya!
Mamak: OK boleh…tunggu skijap ah…

I was served the half boiled eggs, together with the roti telur after 10 minutes.

Me: Eh boss? Tadi cakap tak mau telur stengah masak…lu cakap ok?
Mamak: aiyo…yakar?
Me: Yalah…banyak apa macam mau habis?
Mamak: ah takpalah...sudah angkat…u makan saja lah…*with a blardy cocky face”

If it was in the afternoon or at night I would have talked to him nicely but it was early in the morning, I was moody and he gave me that piece of cocky ass face. It got me so mad that I immediately pushed it back at the blardy idiot and said “saya tak mau!” for 3 times before he finally gave up.

What a dumb fuck.

Second scene at another location on another day:
Me: Boss, teh o ice limao satu…indo mee satu…
Mamak: *shake his head with the all so familiar Indian way which means OK*

As usual, the Indomee would be served with a telur mata kerbau aka (sunny side up fried egg) but this one that I had, the yolk was practically broken and cooked. Being an egg fan myself it would not be satisfying to eat something that’s not what it should be. I called the dude who served the noodles to me and asked him.

Me: Bang, ni telur mata kerbau apa ni?

That bugger gave me a hard stare and just walk away! @$*(&@(*&(!!!!

What the crap man…can’t he just maybe apologize or something? Such uneducated asshole…totally makes me understand one saying from my colleague, "patutlah dier kena buat kerja macam ni walaupun umur dah tua...dah lah sendiri susah...nak menyusahkan orang lain lagi."

Gadget Review – SonicGear Ego 3nity

OK, I’ve not gotten the netbook yet and I’m still so poor that I can’t afford more cool stuff to be reviewed. Let’s just start with my newly bought SonicGear Ego 3nity 2.1 computer speaker system. It was actually an impulsive purchase when I went to LowYat Plaza to help my dad purchase a desktop. I’ve been using my trusty old school Altec Lansing ACS45 for easily 7-8 years and it’s still pumping strong. I’ve always been thinking if I should replace them but I’m not really a serious music listener or a fussy audio fan. So I thought something that looks cool would be nice as the ACS45 is turning really yellowish and ugly as it ages. The 3nity looks rather nice and cost only RM50.

I happily bought them home, unbox them and have them plugged in properly. The first thing I heard was “zzzhhhiiiii…zzhhhiieee…” *crap!!! I think it’s spoilt!*. So I played around with the cables and had it on and off a few times. After a few rounds of slapping it, unplugging and re-plugging, finally it works! BUT!!! As soon as I touch or move the cable, it’ll just go back to “zzzhhhiiiii…zzhhhiieee…zzzhhhiiiii…zzhhhiieee…”

After I got them back from warranty claim, immediately I could realize how bad it sounds compares to my ACS45 the moment I had them plugged in, the bass wasn’t strong enough, I had the bass tuned to the max and it could not even match my ACS45 on 15% bass volume level!

The satellite speakers alone are acceptable though. I would say it’s a waste of time buying these speakers. If you prefer something cool, you can opt for some pretty good looking 2.0 speakers that would perform way better than this thing. Oh well, I suppose RM50 for some decoration is not exactly wasted. HAHA..next challenge is I’m still not too sure what should I do with my ACS45 now.

What a Perfect Start of the Year...

First week of Chinese New Year was pretty crappy for me, it started badly and I hope it’ll improve over time and end without any problem. I want to think that I will suffer at the beginning and enjoy the good as time passes by. Just 2 days before CNY eve some bastard scratched my car so badly that I really feel like giving him a good punch till his mother feels regret giving birth to this moronic dickhead. Then I lost quite some amount of money during CNY gambling session. And I was assigned to work ALONE having to handle at least 4 person’s workload including my manager’s for a whole freaking week after CNY holiday.

Good Luck to me!

Sushi King Revisited…

This blog post continues from my previous post on December 26th 2009 (Effect of Economy Downturn???). Few days ago I’ve visited Sushi King in Section 14, PJ with a few friends; lately I’ve been craving for salmon sushi until I totally forgotten about my last experience with Sushi King. As I browse through the menu, Una Don attracted my attention and I thought maybe I can give it a try again and see if it’s the same thing that would be served to me.
I was quite surprised to see a full bowl of rice with the usual 4 pieces of Unagi being brought up to me. Portion is the same as it used to but this time probably the chef who prepared it forgot to put enough Unagi sauce. It was pretty dry but I’m still very much happy because the portion is just nice. It was being served in a bowl which was very much “deeper” than the one in MidValley. I usually would patron the Sushi King outlet on the top floor of MidValley. Looks like I should just stick to the top floor outlet rather than the one below.

Netbook Temptation...

Chinese New Year is around the corner and I’ve just gotten my bonus last month. It isn’t much but I’ve been thinking that I should spend myself something nice after deducting off the savings portion. After all, I did not shop for new cloths or anything for this New Year anyway. And…I’ve got to make full use of the entitlement for the income tax rebate. (well you can come out with ALL sorts of reason when you know you want something no matter how...hahaha..)

I’ve always been looking out for a netbook but I just can’t accept the idea of spending off a chunk of my "already-not-enough-savings". It’s been tempting me on and off until last week my boss told me that I would be given a company laptop. Then I can sell off my old school Toshiba and get a netbook for secondary use. It felt like as if the netbook in Lowyat Plaza is screaming at me begging me to bring her home. Hahaha.

With my months of research over the available netbooks in the market, initially I was hooked to the ASUS N10J which technically to some people, is not exactly categorized as a netbook but it’s the best spec-ed 10’ laptop for me. Unfortunately the hefty price tag turns me off. So off I go looking for other alternatives.

I’ve now filtered my selection to either the Lenovo S10 or the HP Mini 1000. The difference between both of them is that the S10 has better spec whereas the HP Mini emphasizes on design and usability. Seeing how thin the HP Mini is as well as its big keyboard really made me drool. Not forgetting the funky pattern embedded on its lid.

Now the final question. “Should I? or Should I not?” -_-"

Back Again from Mars...

Again I went off to Mars and now return home. Haha. The end of 2008 was pretty good for me and definitely a VERY busy one as well. Went on a trip to Pulau Langkawi with a bunch of old schoolmates and managed to refrained myself from getting drunk. Got myself tanned up and I’m now suffering from the skin-peeling effect even after 2 weeks.

2009 was pretty busy too as I started off the beginning of the year with 2 wedding dinners to attend and now I’m back to my daily routine work but a MUCH busier one. Having great colleagues who you could work together very well is really a blessing. The Superwoman of my office has gone off on a 2 weeks leave and I have to make sure everything runs smoothly while taking over her work.

For the first time in my entirely life, I’m putting down my New Year resolutions in black and white form. I’m not going to put too much stress to myself though.

I need to be certified by this year regardless of certification.
I will be more patients with my colleagues.
I will put in more effort at work and show significant contribution.
I will lose more weight! (5kg by the end of the year, hopefully 10kg…haha)
I will expand my source of income. (Still under planning)

So…we shall we how would I score at the end of the year.

Since Chinese New Year is around the corner. I would also like to wish all fellow Chinese Gong Xi Fa Chai, safe trip to whomever who travels during the holiday and have a great year ahead.
